How to create Support Bundles

The support bundle window provides information about several aspects of your Oracle and Toad setups. In addition, the Support Bundle lets you easily report problems to our peer-to-peer mailing lists or directly to Support.
If Toad itself fails, the Error dialog box displays. This type of an error creates a log, saved as toad.elf. This Eureka LogFile (.elf) contains both the application information and the callstack of the error created, and can be very helpful to Support in solving issues you are having with Toad.

To create a support bundle:

Select Help | Support Bundle.

Review the following for additional information:

Email Quest Support

This opens the "Email Quest Support" window with instructions and links to contact Support, and to open a new case or service request.

Quest Web Support

This opens Quest Software's award-winning Support portal in your default browser, with access to Licensing Assistance, the searchable Knowledge Base, product downloads and more.

Attach TOAD.INI (or SQL Tuning Support details) to emails

If selected, this attaches the details to any email sent through the support bundle, whether it is to the peer-to-peer Toad list or to Support.

 *Note: Please refrain from including private data in your posts. Be as thorough as you can with the provided info. We will reply to you as quick as possible. We are glad to assist you.

Hi all,

Toad last prod (12.12.0.39) x64 and last beta (13.0.0.69) x64.
db 11.2.0.3 x64 (client as well)

Simple query:

SELECT table_name || '.' || partition_name sql_string
  FROM user_part_histograms PH
 GROUP BY TABLE_NAME, PARTITION_NAME
HAVING count(DISTINCT COLUMN_NAME) = 0
 ORDER BY TABLE_NAME, PARTITION_NAME;

produce error:ORA-00900 Invalid SQL query (F9 or F5).

Interesting part is that SQL Optimizer (9.2.2.270) x64, has the same problem.

Obviously the same parser machine

 I need to make some changes to a few views periodically and need to have the statements run after hours. I have read other posts trying to figure out the best way as the solutions don't quite fit my needs, or I am not understanding. Please help me understand the proper tool for the job.

I have two or three CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW statements and occasionally a stored procedure or package to update on our production server from a test server. I can create the statements and run them in the editor as a script, but I need schedule them to run after business hours. What is the best method to schedule these types of object updates to run in the evening?

I am relatively current with TOAD for Oracle 12.12.0.39

Thank you for your help.

Occasionally my company makes modifications to Views we currently have setup such as adding new fields.  The problem I am encountering is we have years of tsm query reports saved and when you open those up looking at the View that just had new fields added those new fields do not automatically show up.  What I've been doing is basically "rebuilding" the report by pulling in the View into a new query just so I can see the updated fields.  Is there any way to have Toad do this automatically without me essentially recreating the same report?

Thanks in advance

Alan

As an Oracle DBA, my manager is responsible for Toad Software.  We have users who have licenses that we maintain and are moving these users to new windows 10 machines from Windows 7.

Can you confirm this plan does not violate the license agreement?

On PURPLE PC For 30 days we could treat this as an evaluation install, per my read of the license agreement.  So we could do the install and test ORACLE connectivity without the real license.

We would need to input the license as the T account, or whatever user account (SA?), when we give the PURPLE PC to the end user.  At that time we would need to remove the license from the GREEN PC, as to not have 2 license uses in PRODUCTION at the same time.

Hello I'm using Toad 12.12.0.39 and I have a problem about formatting SUBSTR expressions. I've tried many options on Code Formatter but no success at all.

For example, I have a query

SELECT * FROM invoicejournal cij, unbilledorders unb WHERE SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.SALESID), 1, 43) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.ORDERNUM), 1, 43) AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.dataareaid), 1, 7) AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER ('201'), 1, 7)

And when I format this code it looks like this:

/* Formatted on 16.04.2018 10:17:31 (QP5 v5.318) */
SELECT *
FROM invoicejournal cij, unbilledorders unb
WHERE SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.SALESID), 1, 43) =
SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.ORDERNUM), 1, 43)
AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) =
SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.dataareaid), 1, 7)
AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) =
SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER ('201'), 1, 7)

But i want it like this:

SELECT *
FROM invoicejournal cij, unbilledorders unb
WHERE SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.SALESID), 1, 43) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.ORDERNUM), 1, 43)
AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (unb.dataareaid), 1, 7)
AND SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER (cij.dataareaid), 1, 7) = SUBSTR (NLS_LOWER ('201'), 1, 7)

What am i missing here? How can I edit code formatter to work like that?

Thank you!

Forgive my limited knowledge of toad, as I just started using it. I have a question. If I compile a package (F5), do I have to commit after compile else I will lose changes or compile package includes commit also? I do see "package created" in output windows and  I note that in the toad editor, autocommit is not enabled.

Hello, there,

I am having issue with the encoding of script created by Toad.

I had set UTF-8 as encoding in the following 2 places:

File-->General-->default encoding

Scripts-->spool file encoding

I have some functions in the database, some functions have some special character inside, for example, French accent letter 'é', when I create function script in Toad(one file per object), the script files of those functions with the special character are in ANSI encoding, for those functions do not have the letter, the script file was generated with UTF-8 encoding, by the way, i verified the encoding by opening the file with Notepad++, which can tell me the encoding.

I have issue with ANSI encoding script file.

Is this a bug or anywhere I didn't configure? For the functions with special character are supposed to be generated as UTF-8 encoding, other than ANSI. I tested package scripts, got same results. The scripts generated using SQL Developer works fine.

My toad version is Toad for Oracle xpert 64-bit, 12.8.0.49

Thanks in advance for your comments and help.

Rex

I am relatively new to the Toad automation feature. I am watching tutorial videos and trying to figure out how I can automate the import of multiple tables form an Access database to their appropriate tables in TOAD. The problem is I have toad version 12.0 and the videos that I am watching seem to have a later version.

Can I still do this task given my version of toad?

Also are there any videos, guides, or step by step instructions out there that anyone recommends given my version? I have had no luck finding any.

Hello everybody,

I'm currently using team coding 8.1 in TOAD 12.10 with the SVN provider with SVN connection svn://...
The authentication is basic using user and password located in the password file of the svn repository.

We want to have a best authentication using Active Directory, is it possible with toad to do such authentication?

What are the possibilities?
Using SVN with https connection and provide the user/password of Active Directory?
Using GIT provider ? is it possible to use GIT Provider with Active Directory authentification?

       RIGHT 'DATE: ' Today '      TIME: ' TIME SKIP 1 -

if I click the format option under formatting tools I get the following results

TTITLE LEFT 'POST DATE : &POST_DT_FROM - &POST_DT_TO'                        -
                                                      CENTER 'DTDDB - DTD/DTC TRANSACTIONS RESULTING IN DEBIT BALANCE REPORT' -

Everything else formats correctly, it is just this one command. Is there a configuration setting that I need to set or is this a bug in the formatter?  Any ideas would be appreciated. The problem is that I might have a 5000 line script with the ttitle command in it and I have to hand modify the ttitle to make it look nice again after I format the entire script.

Hi TOAD Community,

I really like TOAD 12 x64 after having to use the old 32-Bit Version 9.6 for 8-9 years My employee at least decided to upgrade to 12.12. Very good! After using it for some time, I must say it's really OK, but of course there are still some flaws, so Quest (Dell?) developers have some work to do Big Smile

With Intellisense I like to use named notation for PL/SQL procedure/function calls. So I often use intellisense to pick a procedure from a package, and after I provide the "open" parantheses '(', TOAD presents the available signatures to be browsed. I select one and let Toad fill in the prototype, like shown below, TOAD will automatically select the first param ("State 1" below, selection is shown in bold on yellow). Since I hate UPPERCASE text except for symbolic constants, I try and select all uppercase text and hit CTRL+L to "lower" it. But this will destroy nearly the whole line, leaving only half of the the first argument intact, like shown in this three :

State I: After selecting the prototype, TOAD has selected the 1st argument (bold on yellow background)

begin
    utility_package.get_view_def(P_VIEW_NAME => P_VIEW_NAME IN VARCHAR2, P_VIEW_DEF => P_VIEW_DEF OUT CLOB, P_VERBOSE => P_VERBOSE IN BOOLEAN)
end;
/

State II: I extend selection in order to press CTRL-L afterwards, selection is again shown bold on yellow:

begin
    utility_package.get_view_def(P_VIEW_NAME => P_VIEW_NAME IN VARCHAR2, P_VIEW_DEF => P_VIEW_DEF OUT CLOB, P_VERBOSE => P_VERBOSE IN BOOLEAN)
end;
/

State III: After I hit CTR+L, this is what is left; everything following the first "=>" is gone. Too bad!

begin
    utility_package.get_view_def(p_view_name =>[CURSOR positioned here]
end;
/

Of course I have checked the TOAD config options "Use lowercase characters after selecting elements from intellisense" as one of my fist configuration steps, since - like I said before - I HATE UPPERCASE letters crying at me.

I expected this "use lowercase" option to be honoured for named notation also, but it isn't..

Question 1: Is the "fragility" shown above a known problem with TOAD 12, or is there something I'm doing  wrong?

Question 2: In future versions, will there be a lowercase option available for named notation prototypes ?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and tips ...
