The better a problem is described, the better the assistance tends to be.

In order to better assist with your issue at hand, please include the following information in your initial post:

-          Product, Version, and relevant environment details.

-          Include a screenshot of the problem

-          Describe the problem fully. What result was expected?

-          Can the issue be created on demand or is it intermittent?

-          If the problem can be generated faithfully, what are the exact steps to recreate the problem?

-          Any other pertinent information (see below)

Create Support Bundles

You can create a support bundle and send it to Dell Support or to the Toad for IBM DB2 community Web site (peer-to-peer support). The support bundle provides information (about your application and the database) that is used to help troubleshoot problems.

Select Help | Support Bundle. It may take time for Toad to generate the support bundle depending on your system configuration.

Create Support Bundle for a SQL Query Issue

If your issue is a SQL query issue, it is helpful if additional log files are included in the support bundle. These log files are automatically included if you generate a support bundle immediately after executing the query in either the Editor or Query Builder.

To create a support bundle for a SQL query issue

1. In the Editor or Query Builder, reproduce the error or issue.

2. After reproducing the error, immediately select Help | Support Bundle to generate a support bundle.

3. Toad asks if you want to log the row count for each table used in the query. If you select Yes, Toad determines the size of each table used in the query. This adds additional time to the generation process, but also provides additional information about your issue.

 4. When Toad is finished generating the support bundle attach log.

Note: For best results, always send the entire support bundle. This provides Support with the most information about your issue and aids the troubleshooting process.

*Note: Please refrain from including private data in your posts

Be as thorough as you can with the provided info. We will reply to you as quick as possible. We are glad to assist you

Hi,

We created a DB2 restrictive database and trying to grant permissions for READ / SELECT ONLY Unix group so they have minimum level of access and yet are able to SELECT from application objects / tables.  Does anyone know what are the system objects (we are fine with application objects) to which access needs to be granted?  Checked with IBM and they are asking to contact TOAD for list.  Temporarily granted DATAACCESS capability in dev to the READ / SELECT group, but that is too much access for this group.

OS - Linux

DB2 LUW version - 10.5

Toad data Point 4.0.0.624

Thanks for your time!

Hi!

We are a issue in our database DB2 11.1 with a SELECT ... FOR UPDATE which is executed many time by seconds and it is generating many locks and the applications hangs.

SQL_TEXT:
SELECT flag1,flag2,flag3,status1,status2,status3,status4,status5,status_ext,device_fitness,cassette_fitness,configid,last_cmdtype,last_txntype,oar_screen,lastmsg_time,trace,tpdu,emv_identifier,language,pcode,respcode,acct_num,acct_num2,tvn,luno,cap_date,msg_coord_num,oar_line,model_specific,node, cassette_dispense, statetablename, statetablever, fault, severity, availdate, availtime,cmdmbid, balancerid, site_id, shclog_id, last_modify_dttime FROM atmdevicestate WHERE institutionid = ? and group_name = ? and unit = ? FOR UPDATE

The ATMDEVICESTATE table only has 1063 rows and two indexes:

INDEX ATMDEVICESTATE_1 ("LASTMSG_TIME" ASC,"GROUP_NAME" ASC,"UNIT" ASC) COMPRESS YES INCLUDE NULL KEYS ALLOW REVERSE SCANS
UNIQUE INDEX ATMDEVICESTATE_IX ("INSTITUTIONID" ASC, "GROUP_NAME" ASC,"UNIT" ASC) COMPRESS YES INCLUDE NULL KEYS ALLOW REVERSE SCANS

Is there a way to prevent these locks generated by the application in the database by SELECT ... FOR UPDATE with some parameter in the instace/database or howto can avoid this locks ???

In the top 5 SQL by executions appears the sentences SELECT...FOR UPDATE, the UPDATE of CURSOR and SELECT, the tree for the same table ATMDEVICESTATE:

EXECUTIONS TIME_SECONDS TEXT

We are think it's a programming issue, but the applications say than is a problem with the db2sync since his analysis they are observed high time in commits/checkpoints in the database

IBM team said there is no way to avoid this locks. We are check isolation level but we do not know what level of isolation is recommended to reduce/avoid blocking in the application side ???

-> The history file is less than 5 mb
-> Lock waits are not so high in the snapshots
-> Query execution times are good

Thks !

Hi,

One of my customer is using TOAD to connect to our DB2 Reporting Database.

When they run a SELECT query, they are getting the below error.

Because of the InnerException Message "No data exists for the row/column." , the customer is thinking that this error is coming because of a data issue in the table.

But, when I run the same SELECT query in DB2 SPUFI, I am not getting any error.

Has anyone come across this issue before and identified the root cause. If yes, could you please share your findings.

Appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

-  Version: Toad for DB2 4.7 on Win 10,  DB2 Server on AIX ,
-  Purpose: We are implementing PAM (Privilege Account Management ) so the goal is to launch Toad for DB2 4.7 and make connection to designated database with all the credentials been provided by PAM, no entry required for operators.
-  What have tried:  Searched on internet and all information I got are for Toad for Oracle, and it seems many people are using that way:
            Toad.exe -c $Username/$Password@$Database   or
            Toad.exe connect=$Username/$Password@$Database
($parameters will be substituted by PAM)

-  when using above commands in DOS command line with real credentials the Toad for DB2 just started with an empty editor window and no connection was made, and no error message.

So I wonder if launch a connection by command line is feasible for Toad for DB2?

Hi All,

I am very new to DB2 world and I would like to know the Implementation of Error Handling in DB2 stored procedures along with rollback.

Example Scenario:  A db2 stored proc have different dml commands like Insert and updates. During the time of inserts and updates I need to implement error handling. Also if there is a dependency between Inserts and updates. If all the inserts got successful and something in the updates failed with in single stored procedure then all the inserts must rollback and should display the error message.

Thanks!!!

Hello,

I have just upgraded to 6.5 and I am getting a problem which I didn't get in 6.1.

When I put statements such as :

  DECLARE v_current INT DEFAULT 0;

in to the editor I get the "red star" syntax error highlight, see below

However, if I remove the semi colon from the first line, the second line no longer errors:

I'm sure this is a configuration issue, but I can't see which option to change to fix this problem.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Bob.

Hi,

I apologize if I am double posting regarding the issue, I tried to search for the same topic and never found one. Anyway, I just upgraded my Toad freeware from 6.2 to 6.3.0.269 64-bit and one thing I noticed is that the Excel option in the Export wizard is missing. Is there a workaround or fix that is going to come soon?

If it helps, my OS is Win 10 Pro 64-bit.
