I just wanted to make an introductory post to introduce myself and get my feet wet here in the Toad World pond!
I've been around Oracle for quite a while - 23 years now (wow!). I'm sure I've crossed paths with many of you in some form or fashion over the years at various conferences and user groups, but I'm very excited to be a part of the Toad World Oracle Community and blogging here. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to share with you some of what I've learned and continue to learn about Oracle. Specifically, I'll be writing about Oracle performance, particularly about the optimizer and SQL.
Since the early 90's I've "been there, done that" for many different subject areas in the Oracle database realm. I've worked as a developer, a DBA, a data architect, a teacher, a researcher, an author, and a consultant. I currently work for the newly christened Accenture Enkitec Group (Accenture acquired Enkitec just recently) as a Senior Technical Consultant. What that means is that I get to work with some of the best people on the planet on great projects with great customers doing what I really love to do - find and fix Oracle performance problems. One of my favorite things to do is to teach/speak. It's fun to share some of the things that have made my job easier to do and to give back some of the knowledge so many others have so freely shared with me over the years. I'm one of those who continues to be happiest when I'm doing what I love and learning something new along the way.
So, hello Toad World! I'm looking forward to sharing and learning and getting to know you all!
Welcome Karen. For those who may not know Karen, she routinely does some of the best SQL tuning and optimization webcasts presented. We're lucky to have her join our Toad community. So welcome Karen :)
